Additional Tests

Additional tests may be recommended and can include: blood count; thyroid function; a menopause or polycystic ovary syndrome profile; cervical smear or chlamydial swab.  The fees for these tests and examination are fixed and are shown separately in our tariff. Where possible, the doctor will take samples during your consultation to save you the time and expense of returning.  If a vaginal or trans-vaginal scan is required, a separate appointment will be necessary.

Preparation

Please remember to make sure you have sent us your completed questionnaire (you can download a copy from the download panel above) at least 2 working days in advance of your appointment so the doctor can review it prior to your consultation.

Gynaecare Clinic

Not feeling quite normal?

Heavy, painful or abnormal periods?  Are they preventing you from enjoying your life to the full?  We are all different, so there are no hard and fast rules about what is considered ‘normal’. But you do know what is normal for you and any significant or long-term change is worth investigating.

Sometimes life can just be so busy, that even if something is worrying you, there just isn’t time to think about it, let alone get it sorted out.  The Gynaecare Clinic from InsideVue has been developed to offer a fast and direct route to dealing with female health issues.

You can make an appointment to see one of our doctors or ask your GP to refer you to the Gynaecare Clinic if you prefer.  There are no long waiting lists and appointments can usually be arranged quickly.

What is the Gynaecare service?

The Gynaecare Clinic is a comprehensive, high quality, fixed price service. It offers a fast simple route to discuss your concerns – there’s no need to feel embarrassed, you won’t be the only woman that has suffered from these problems.  Our doctors may be able to reassure you that what you are experiencing is nothing to be concerned about. Or they can discuss treatment options that might help relieve your symptoms so that you can return to enjoying your life to the full.

Our clinics are run by women for women.  Our female doctors have a special interest in women’s healthcare issues.  The Gynaecare Clinic has been designed with consultant gynaecologists to ensure that the whole diagnostic process is simplified and can be undertaken quickly and cost effectively.  The results of testing undertaken during our Gynaecare Clinic then forms part of an integrated care pathway should you need to go on and see one of our consultants.

The Gynaecare Clinic consultation includes a detailed review of your concerns and relevant family history (you will be asked to complete a personal questionnaire prior to your appointment - which can be downloaded from this page).  During your consultation, a pelvic examination will also be undertaken. Depending upon the initial findings, the doctor may recommend some additional tests or an ultrasound examination in order to get a complete picture - see the Additional Tests panel .

The initial findings will be discussed with you at the end of your consultation.  This will be followed by a full written report which will take into account any subsequent lab test or ultrasound results and will include a care plan.  In most cases, the care plan will be all that is required.  However, should you need to go on to see a consultant gynaecologist; this can be arranged via one of our outreach clinics or through your GP.  Because much of the preparatory work will have been undertaken during the Gynaecare Clinic, the consultant will be ready to get on with your treatment, minimising or eliminating the need for repeat testing or delay.

Lost the quality of your life?

Nearly every woman in the UK suffers with a gynaecological problem at some point in their lives.  So if you have a concern, you are not alone.

It may not be life threatening, and it may only affect you at certain times of the month.  But it can still have an impact on your quality of life and ability to do everyday things such as going to work, enjoying a sporting and social life or looking after your family.

Gynaecare gives you the opportunity to discuss your concerns with an expert who will explain things clearly and work out what is right for you.
